Welcome to the Women's League for Conservative Judaism Virtual Rosh Chodesh Study Group. Each month we will have new topics to study, explore and discuss. We hope this space will become your most visited spot on the web, learning from others as others learn from you.
For each month, there will be discussion topics about the month itself--it's place in the year, the holidays, observances and relevance to women. In addition there will be a topic with study materials unique to the month, and a third section relating to this year's Women's League study topic: L'avdah ul'shamrah--"To plant and to Tend," which originates in the book of Bereishit. This topic will focus on the environment and protecting the world around us.
Feel free to join in on the conversation, add your own thoughts, debate (of course you know when there are two Jews in a room, there have to be -- at least-- three opinions, so don't be shy!)

Hi all,
I'm going to start the ball rolling here. Don't be shy. Introduce yourselves, tell us where you're located and how you heard about the group. Are you part of a real-world Rosh Chodesh group? What region are you from? What synagogue? what would you like to see in this group?
This group is for all of us to enjoy and participate. So dig in and feel free to post!

Hi, I am Jenni Connolly. I currently teach Sunday school at Rodef Sholom Temple in Hampton VA in the Seaboard region where I've been a member for 20+ years. I'm a past president and treasurer of sisterhood and I'm currently in charge of the annual donor. I served as corresponding secretary for seaboard region one term. I also work full time for Amerigroup (managed health-care organization) as a project manager. My two sons are grown, one is married with one 2 year old daughter and another on the way. The other just graduated college. I occasionally contribute to the WLCJ.org listserve, which is where I learned of this BBS. I'm not sure what I want from it just yet but I thought I'd just see what sort of personality the site takes on.
Jenni

So I posted a reply but it didn't show up. Are all replies saved until approval or did it just not go through?

Hi Jenni,
Welcome. As people get acclimated to the site, they'll hopefully jump in and explore the questions and materials, but feel free to pose your own questions in the appropriate threads...
